TURLOCK, Calif.--- After defeating Cal Poly Humboldt 1-0 in the First Round of the CCAA Women's Soccer Championship Tournament presented by FloCollege this Sunday afternoon in Turlock, Stan State advanced to the CCAA Tournament semi-finals at College Creek Field on the campus of Cal Poly Humboldt in Arcata, Calif. The Warriors will face nationally ranked No. 4 Cal Poly Pomona at 2:00 p.m. this Friday, November 15. This is the second time in the last three seasons that the Warriors have advanced to the CCAA Semi-finals.
STAN STATE IN REVIEW: The Warriors are averaging 1.58 goals a game while giving up just 1.37 goals a game. They have recorded seven shutouts in their 19 matches this season. Three Warriors have seen time in goals this season in
Tylin Norman,
Natalia Ochoa, and
Malia Allen. Norman has a 1.22 goals against average in seven matches with 23 saves and a .767 saves percentage. Ochoa has a 1.36 goals against average with 50 saves and a .781 saves percentage in 13 matches. Allen had a 1.69 goals against average with ten saves and a .667 saves percentage in four matches.
Aliah Avila leads Stan State with her eight goals, 20 points, and seven game-winning goals.
Jocelin Roa is second on the team with her five goals and 12 points followed by
Sabrina Cabrera and
Kaley Miller each with 11 points. Miller leads the team with her seven assists.
Shauna Johnston has two game-winning goals while
Makeila Yancey has one.
FIRST ROUND MATCH-UP: Stan State defeated Cal Poly Humboldt 1-0 in the First Round of the CCAA Championship Tournament, presented by FloCollege on Sunday afternoon in Turlock.
Makeila Yancey scored the game-winner with three minutes left in the first half.
Tylin Norman had two saves in goal with the Warriors posting their seventh shutout of the season.
TENTH APPEARANCE: The Warriors are making their tenth appearance in the CCAA Soccer Championships. This is the Stan State's third straight appearance in the tournament. Last season, they lost 2-1 in overtime to Cal Poly Humboldt in the First Round at home.
17TH STRAIGHT: The Warriors, under the guidance of head coach
Gabriel Bolton, recorded their 17
th straight season with a winning record. During that stretch, this is the 12
th season they have won at least nine matches. Their best season was in 2013 with a 18-1-2 record including going 14-0-2 in the CCAA.
7-2: After starting the season 3-5-2 and 0-3 in the CCAA, Stan State went 6-2 to finish with a 10-7-2 6-5 in the CCAA to finish in fourth place in the final regular season standings. During the nine-match stretch, Stan State recorded five shutouts including a 2-0 victory over then No. 4 Cal Poly Pomona and a 1-0 First Round victory over Cal Poly Humboldt.
6-3-2 AT HOME: The Warriors went 7-3-2 in their eleven matches at home. They were 3-4 in their seven matches away from Warrior Stadium.
CCAA/NCAA RANKED: Heading into the CCAA Semi-finals, the Warriors have some individuals ranked in the top ten in the CCAA in some individual statistical categories.
Aliah Avila is first in game-winning goals (seven), second in points (twenty), tied for second in goals (eighth), and tied for fourth in assists (four).
Kaley Miller is second in assists with seven.

CAL POLY POMONA: The Broncos finished as the CCAA Regular Season Champions as they went 15-1-2 including 8-1-2 in the CCAA. Their one loss was a 2-0 blemish at Stan State on October 27. Cal Poly Pomona, who is the number eed in this year's tournament, is averaging 2.22 goals a game while giving up just 0.67 goals a game with ten shutouts in 18 matches. Bella Hara has a 0.67 goals against average with 37 saves, ten shutouts, and a .755 saves percentage. Vanessa Cruz leads the team with her ten goals, 22 points, and five game-winning goals. Tara Oper is second on the team with her 15 points and leads the team with her seven assists.
LAST TIME: The Warriors defeated No. 4 Cal Poly Pomona 2-0 in their Senior day on October 27 at Warrior Stadium.

Kellyann Rodriguez with 17 minutes remaining in the match.

WINNER HEADING TO NCAA'S: The winner of the 2024 CCAA Women's Soccer Championships, presented by FloCollege will receive the conference's automatic berth to the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championships. The top six teams in each of the nation's eight regions will receive a bid to the NCAAs with the tournament field being announced on November 18 on
www.ncaa.com. There will be one last regional ranking on November 12. The West Region rankings that were released on Wednesday, November 6, Cal Poly Pomona was first followed by Concordia Irvine, Point Loma, Hawai'i Hilo, Azusa Pacific, and Western Washington. The final three spots in the top nine were Cal State Los Angeles, Cal State San Marcos, and Cal State East Bay.
