Warrior Women Finish Fifth, Men Sixth at NCAA DII West Regionals

BILLINGS, Mont.--- The Stan State men's and women's cross country teams traveled for the NCAA Division II West Regionals at Amend Park in Billings, Montana. The men placed sixth out of 22 finishing teams. The women's team were fifth out of 28 finishing teams. Three Warriors earned All-Region honors.

WOMEN: Jacqueline Sanchez-Silva was the first to make it across for the Warriors, completing the race in 21:07.39 to earn 9th place, followed by Annie Wild in 13th with a time of 21:26.06. The next to cross the line was Crystal Hernandez in 30th, finishing in 21:55.33. Sanchez-Silva and Wild earned All-Region honors for their top 25 finish.
 
Those three runners were followed by Tessa Vasquez (41st, 22:12.43), Nina Furtado (73rd, 22:47.59), Kayden Legan (120th, 23:36.78), and Sophia Mirelez (145th, 24:15.14).

TEAM:  Chico State was at the top of the leader board with 104 points. Western Washington followed in second with 115 points, and Biola was in third with 141 points. The rest of the field is as follows: Alaska Fairbanks (4th, 154 points), Stan State (5th, 164 points), Alaska Anchorage (6th, 207 points), Point Loma (7th, 229 points), Concordia University Irvine (8th, 229 points), Simon Fraser (9th, 236 points), Seattle Pacific (10th, 239 points), Cal Poly Pomona (11th, 271 points), Fresno Pacific (12th, 308 points), Azusa Pacific (13th, 314 points), Sonoma State (14th, 347 points), Central Washington (15th, 361 points), Cal State San Marcos (16th, 376 points), Western Oregon (17th, 458 points), Cal State East Bay (18th, 492 points), Northwest Nazarene (19th, 495 points), Cal State San Bernardino (20th, 541 points), Cal State Monterey Bay (21st, 548 points), Westmont (22nd, 624 points), Montana State University Billings (23rd, 624 points; overall time broke the tie), Cal Poly Humboldt (24th, 674 points), San Francisco State (25th, 697 points), Chaminade (26th, 799 points), Cal State Los Angeles (27th, 849 points), Hawaii Pacific (28th, 861 points).

MEN: Abe Alsaidi crossed the line first for the Warriors, finishing in 25th with a time of 31:21.91. Next was Tanner Gerhart in 30th, completing his race in 31:29.16. Following in 40th was Jackson Oliveira at 31:46.29.  Abe Alsaidi earned All-Region honors for his top 25 finish.

Four other Warriors completed their race as well: Dominic Robles (51st, 32:05.39), Mason Oliveira (52nd ,32:05.76), Adin Dibble (61st, 32:19.67), and Nate Olsen (70th, 32:29).

TEAM: Chico State finished in first at 40 points with Western Washington in second with 54 points. Biola followed in third with 137 points to round out the top three. The other nineteen teams placed as follows: Cal Poly Pomona (4th, 147 points), Azusa Pacific (5th, 149 points), Stan State (6th, 198 points), Northwest Nazarene (7th, 223 points), Central Washington (8th, 227 points), Simon Fraser (9th, 259 points), Alaska Anchorage (10th, 271 points), Concordia University Irvine (11th, 277 points), Western Oregon ( 12th, 292 points), Cal State San Marcos (13th, 313 points), Westmont (14th, 323 points), Cal Poly Humboldt (15th, 356 points), Fresno Pacific (16th, 479 points), Cal State Easy Bay (17th, 493 points), Cal State Monterey Bay (18th, 497 points), Alaska Fairbanks (19th, 553 points), Saint Martin's University (20th, 631 points), San Francisco State (21st, 650 points), Cal State Los Angeles (22nd, 685 points).

NCAA DII CHAMPIONSHIPS: The official field for the championships will be announced Monday, November 11th. They will take place in Sacramento, California at Arcade Creek Cross Country Course on Saturday, November 23rd. The men's 10K will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the women's 6K at 11:15 a.m.
