EMPORIA, Kansas---Stan State's
Najwa Chouati earned NCAA Division II All-American honors this evening at the 2024 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships by placing eighth in the women's 10,000-meter run. Chouati ran a 35:33.25 to place eighth while fellow Warrior,
Kaela Dishion, finished in 14
th place with a time of 36:25.56. This year's championships are being hosted by Emporia State University at the Francis G. Welch Stadium in Emporia, Kansas.
"Great effort and performance by both ladies which culminated in Najwa (Chouati) ending her Stan State career as an All-American!....very proud of both of them," said head coach
Troy Johnson. "Great work by Coach (Darren) Holman and (Courtney) Heiner to prepare them for this achievement!"
With her time of 35:33.25, Chouati earned All-American honors by placing eighth in the 10,000-meter run finals this evening in Kansas. Finishing in 14
th place was Stan State's
Kaela Dishion, with a time of 36:25.56.
Florance Uwajeneza of West Texas A&M was the 10,000-meter champion with a time of 34:14.17. Finishing in second place was Seattle Pacific's Annika Esvelt with a time of 34:18.07. Chico State's Irish Molina finished in 12
th place with a time of 36:17.45 as the only other runner from the CCAA in the 10K finals.
This Tuesday, May 28, the United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) will release its USTFCCCA/NCAA Division II All-Americans. To receive USTFCCCA First Team All-American honors a student-athlete must place first through eighth in their respective event or relay. To receive USTFCCCA Second Team All-American honors, a student-athlete must place ninth through twelfth in their event or ninth or tenth in their relay.
