NEW ORLEANS, La.--- For the fourth consecutive week, the Stan State women's cross country team sits at No. 2 in the West Region as the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released its latest regional rankings Tuesday.
The Warriors, coached by
Darren Holman, continue to trail only CCAA rival Chico State in the West. Biola remains third, followed by Cal Poly Pomona and CUI to round out the top five.
Stan State is one of four CCAA programs in the West Region top 10. Along with No. 1 Chico State and No. 2 Stan State, Cal Poly Pomona is fourth, and Cal State Monterey Bay is seventh.
National Poll Coming Wednesday
Stan State entered the week ranked No. 11 in the USTFCCCA NCAA Division II national coaches' poll. The Warriors have been nationally ranked throughout the season, with the next national poll scheduled to be released Wednesday.
Warriors Prepare for Bronco Invitational
Stan State has been off from competition since capturing its second consecutive Kim Duyst Twilight team championship on Sept. 12 at River Oaks Golf Course in Ceres. The Warriors scored 22 points and placed all five scorers among the top nine, finishing 11 points ahead of NCAA Division I UC Santa Barbara.
Stevie Holguin won the individual 6K title in 20:41.4 and was named the FloCollege/CCAA Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the second consecutive week.
Rankings Schedule
The remaining USTFCCCA West Region rankings are scheduled to be released Oct. 13, Oct. 20, Oct. 28, Nov. 10 and Nov. 25, with the final regional rankings scheduled for Dec. 4. The remaining national coaches' polls are scheduled for Oct. 14, Oct. 21, Oct. 28, Nov. 11 and Nov. 26, with the final national poll scheduled for Dec. 5.

The Warriors return to competition Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Bronco Invitational at Baylands Regional Course in Sunnyvale. The Men's Invitational will begin at 8:45 a.m., followed by the Women's Invitational at 9:30 a.m., Men's Open at 10:15 a.m. and Women's Open at 11 a.m.
The Bronco Invitational will be the Warriors' final race before the postseason begins with the CCAA Cross Country Championships on Nov. 7 in San Bernardino. The NCAA Division II West Regional is scheduled for Nov. 21 at the Arcade Creek Cross Country Course in Sacramento, followed by the NCAA Division II National Championship on Dec. 4 at Rim Rock Farm in Lawrence, Kansas.
