Stan State Women’s Cross Country Holds No. 11 Spot in USTFCCCA National Poll

NEW ORLEANS, La.--- The Stan State women's cross country team remains No. 11 in the nation in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division II national coaches' poll released Wednesday.

The Warriors, coached by Darren Holman, received 159 points in the Week 2 poll. Stan State was tied for No. 11 with Lewis in the previous rankings and now holds the No. 11 position outright, with Lewis ranked No. 12.
Adams State remains No. 1 nationally, followed by Grand Valley State, Wingate, Colorado School of Mines and Western Colorado. Chico State is No. 6, giving the CCAA two programs among the top 11. Cal Poly Pomona is No. 26.

Kim Duyst Twilight Champions
Stan State captured its second consecutive Kim Duyst Twilight team championship on Saturday, Sept. 12, at River Oaks Golf Course in Ceres. The Warriors scored 22 points to finish 11 points ahead of NCAA Division I UC Santa Barbara.

Stevie Holguin captured the individual 6K title in 20:41.4, while Kekaihulali Halpern finished third (20:51.9), Annie Wild fourth (21:00.3) and freshman Natalie Arriaza fifth (21:05.7). Izzy Soto placed ninth (21:41.7), giving Stan State all five scorers among the top nine.

For her performance, Holguin was named the FloCollege/CCAA Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the second consecutive week.

Among the Nation's Top 11
Stan State is one of two West Region programs ranked among the nation's top 11, joining No. 6 Chico State. The Warriors also remain No. 2 in the West Region for the third consecutive week.

Up Next
The Warriors will be off from competition until Saturday, Oct. 17, when they compete at the Bronco Invitational at Baylands Regional Course in Sunnyvale. The women's race is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.

Stan State will begin post-season competition at the CCAA Cross Country Championships on Nov. 7 in San Bernardino. The NCAA Division II West Regional is scheduled for Nov. 21 in Sacramento, followed by the NCAA Division II National Championship on Dec. 4 at Rim Rock Farm in Lawrence, Kansas.
