SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Stan State continues its outdoor season this Saturday, March 21, traveling to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo for the Mark Conover Classic. The one-day meet will feature a full slate of track and field events as the Warriors compete alongside Cal Poly SLO, Cal State Bakersfield, UCLA and Western Washington.

Last Time Out

Stan State is coming off a strong showing at the Kim Duyst Invitational, where the Warriors honored their senior class and delivered standout performances across sprints, distance, relays and throws at the Al Brenda Track at Warrior Stadium.

The Warriors celebrated Reyna Dismukes, Crystal Hernandez, Justice McDermott, Timothy Miles, Bela Moreno, Mason Phillips, Christopher Ruiz and Julian Sanchez, a group that has made a lasting impact on the program with All-CCAA honors, national appearances and all-time marks.

On the track, Andrew Bishop highlighted the sprint group with times of 10.62 in the 100 meters (fourth all-time) and 21.42 in the 200 meters (seventh all-time), while helping lead the 4x100 relay team to a 40.86 — also fourth in program history. Ahlia Albergottie added a top-10 mark in the 400-meter hurdles (1:04.22), and Timothy Miles turned in strong performances in both hurdle events.

In the field events, Ivan Mendoza moved into fifth all-time in the long jump with a mark of 23-6¼ (7.17m), while Mason Phillips led the throws with a 49-5 (15.06m) mark in the shot put. Alexis Nino paced the women's throws with a 171-4 (52.24m) performance in the hammer.

The distance group also impressed, led by Izzy Soto (4:36.13 / 1500m, 2:13.95 / 800m) and Megan Silva (4:38.77 / 1500m, 2:13.44 / 800m), while Austin Hein paced the men with times of 4:02.71 in the 1500 meters and 2:00.35 in the 800 meters.

Nino Off to Strong Start Outdoors

Stan State's Alexis Nino has carried her momentum from the indoor season into the outdoor campaign and currently ranks second in NCAA Division II in the shot put with a mark of 14.12 meters (46-4) and third nationally in the hammer throw with a mark of 53.62 meters (175-11), both recorded at the Fresno Pacific Sunbird Invitational on Feb. 20. The early-season marks place the junior among the national leaders in both events.

All-America Honors at NCAA Indoor Championships

Stan State closed the indoor season with multiple All-America performances at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships in Virginia Beach, Va. Annie Wild earned First Team All-America honors with a third-place finish in the women's mile (4:45.45), becoming a five-time All-American. Alexis Nino added Second Team All-America honors in the shot put, while the distance medley relay team of Izzy Soto, Mila Real, Crystal Hernandez and Wild also earned Second Team recognition with a ninth-place finish.
