BEAUMONT, Calif. — The Stan State men's golf team continues its spring march through the 2025–26 season March 23–24 as the Warriors travel to Southern California to compete in the Coyote Classic, hosted by Cal State San Bernardino at Oak Valley Golf Club. With the postseason quickly approaching, the two-day tournament provides another key opportunity for Stan State to build momentum against a competitive field while sharpening its play ahead of the CCAA Championships later this spring.
Recap: Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout
Stan State is coming off a 15th-place finish at the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout at Corica Park, posting a three-round total of 15-over 879 (289-297-293).
Riley Kirk paced the Warriors with a one-over 217, closing strong with a final-round 2-under 70 to finish tied for 28th.
Owen Bascom added a five-over 221, while
Chase Bird followed at seven-over 223, with
Carson Diaz and
Ricky Sullivan each carding 225 over the three rounds.
Warriors in Review
Stan State enters the Coyote Classic ranked No. 14 in the NCAA Division II West Region, compiling 20 rounds of competition this season. The Warriors have competed in seven stroke-play events, highlighted by an eighth-place finish at the Chico State Wildcat Classic where they posted a 4-under team score. Stan State also added a 10th-place finish at the CSU San Marcos Fujikura Invitational and has continued to face strong regional competition throughout the spring, including most recently a 15th-place showing at the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout.
Tournament Field
The Coyote Classic features a 12-team field including host Cal State San Bernardino, Cal State San Marcos, Chico State, Cal State Monterey Bay, Cal State Dominguez Hills, Menlo College, Northwest Nazarene, Jessup University, Fort Lewis College, Colorado Mesa and La Sierra, along with Stan State.
Colorado Mesa enters ranked No. 2 in the South Central Region and No. 12 nationally, while the tournament also features several top West Region programs including Chico State (No. 5), Cal State San Bernardino (No. 6), Cal State Monterey Bay (No. 7), Menlo (No. 11), Cal State Dominguez Hills (No. 12) and Stan State (No. 14).
