Stan State Men’s Cross Country Ranked Ninth in Latest USTFCCCA West Region Rankings

NEW ORLEANS, La.--- The Stan State men's cross country team, coached by Darren Holman, is ranked ninth in the West Region in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) regional rankings.

Chico State remains No. 1 in the West Region, followed by Western Washington, Cal Poly Pomona, Western Oregon and Cal State San Marcos. Alaska Anchorage is sixth, followed by Biola, Northwest Nazarene, Stan State and CUI.

The Warriors moved down one spot from No. 8 in the previous regional rankings. Stan State is one of four CCAA teams ranked in the West Region top 10, joining Chico State, Cal Poly Pomona and Cal State San Marcos.

Last Time Out
Stan State is coming off a third-place finish at the Kim Duyst Twilight on Saturday, Sept. 26, at River Oaks Golf Course in Ceres. The Warriors scored 51 points and were the top NCAA Division II team in the 10-team field, finishing just two points behind runner-up CSUN and 10 behind team champion UC Santa Barbara.

Jackson Oliveira finished second overall and was the top collegiate finisher, completing the 8K course in 24:05.5. Mason Oliveira placed fourth in 24:29.6, while Gurdave Pandher gave the Warriors three runners among the top 12 with a 12th-place finish in 24:52.1.

Next Rankings
The next USTFCCCA West Region rankings are scheduled to be released Oct. 6. The next NCAA Division II national coaches' poll will be released Wednesday.

Up Next
The Warriors will be off from competition until Saturday, Oct. 17, when they return to action at the Bronco Invitational at Baylands Regional Course in Sunnyvale. The men's race is scheduled for 8:45 a.m.

Stan State will begin postseason competition at the CCAA Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Nov. 7, at the CSUSB Cross Country Course in San Bernardino, with the men's race scheduled for 10 a.m. The NCAA Division II West Regional will follow on Saturday, Nov. 21, at the Arcade Creek Cross Country Course in Sacramento, with the men's race scheduled for 9 a.m. The NCAA Division II National Championship is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 4, at Rim Rock Farm in Lawrence, Kansas.
