TURLOCK, Calif.--- No. 12 Stan State women's cross country returns to the Central Valley this weekend as the Warriors host the annual Kim Duyst Twilight on Saturday, Sept. 12, at River Oaks Golf Course in Ceres. The meet is scheduled to begin at 5:15 p.m., with the Warriors competing in the collegiate women's 6K at 9 p.m. on the 2K-loop course.
LAST TIME OUT
Stan State opened its 2026 season with a second-place finish at the University of San Francisco Invitational at Hellman Hollow. The Warriors totaled 82 points and were the top non-Division I team in the field, finishing ahead of Division I programs California Baptist, California, Santa Clara, Stanford, UC Davis, Sacramento State, Pacific and San Jose State.
Stevie Holguin led the Warriors with a sixth-place finish in 21:00.2 and was the top non-Division I finisher in the race. All-American
Annie Wild was Stan State's second finisher, placing 12th in 21:10.5, while
Kekaihulali Halpern finished 15th in her Warrior debut with a time of 21:13.1. Freshman
Natalie Arriaza placed 24th in her collegiate debut with a time of 21:29.8, while
Izzy Soto rounded out Stan State's five scoring runners with a 28th-place finish in 21:39.9. All five Warrior scorers finished among the top 30, including three in the top 15
HOLGUIN EARNS CCAA WEEKLY HONOR
Following her performance at the USF Invitational, Holguin was named the FloCollege/CCAA Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week for Aug. 31-Sept. 6. Holguin's 21:00.2 was just 3.2 seconds off her collegiate-best 6K time of 20:57.0. Holguin became the first Warrior to earn the conference's weekly women's cross country honor since
Annie Wild was recognized for Sept. 8-14, 2025.
NATIONALLY AND REGIONALLY RANKED
Stan State entered the 2026 season ranked No. 12 in the USTFCCCA NCAA Division II Women's Cross Country National Coaches' Poll and No. 2 in the West Region.
The Warriors received 145 points in the preseason national poll and maintained the same No. 12 position in which they finished the 2025 season. Stan State is one of three CCAA teams in the national top 30, joining No. 6 Chico State and No. 21 Cal Poly Pomona.
In the West Region, Stan State is ranked second behind Chico State. The Warriors moved up three positions after finishing the 2025 season ranked fifth in the region.
The next USTFCCCA regional rankings are scheduled to be released Tuesday, Sept. 15, with the next national coaches' poll scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 16.
LAST YEAR AT THE KIM DUYST TWILIGHT
Stan State captured the team title at the 2025 Kim Duyst Twilight, scoring 75 points in the women's 6K at River Oaks Golf Course. The then-No. 17 nationally ranked Warriors finished five points ahead of CCAA preseason favorite Chico State and placed all five scoring runners among the top 30.
The Warriors also finished ahead of four NCAA Division I programs — Sacramento State, UC Davis, Nevada and California — while posting a total time of 1:47:25 and an average of 21:29 across their five scorers.
Annie Wild led Stan State with a third-place finish in 21:02.7.
Jacqueline Sanchez-Silva finished 10th in 21:22.1, followed by
Bela Moreno in 11th at 21:25.9. Current Warriors

Stevie Holguin completed the scoring five, with Soto placing 27th in 21:47.0 and Holguin finishing 29th in 21:48.2.
KIM DUYST TWILIGHT FIELD
Stan State will be joined by Chabot, CSUN, Dominican, Jessup, San Francisco State, Simpson, UC Merced and UC Santa Barbara in Saturday night's collegiate women's 6K. The field also includes unattached competitors. The Warriors are scheduled to have 13 runners compete:

KIM DUYST TWILIGHT INFORMATION
The Kim Duyst Twilight will be held Saturday at River Oaks Golf Course, located at 3441 Golf Links Road in Ceres. The course is primarily grass with a small portion on dirt and consists of 2K loops.
The meet begins at 5:15 p.m., with the collegiate women's 6K scheduled for 9 p.m. Admission is free for spectators, while parking is $10 per vehicle with cash requested. Spectators will enter through the normal River Oaks Golf Course entrance and exit through Ceres River Bluff Regional Park. Concessions will be available throughout the meet.

Following the Kim Duyst Twilight, Stan State will have nearly a month away from competition before returning to San Francisco on Friday, Oct. 9, for the San Francisco State Invitational at Speedway Meadows. The meet is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. and will be the Warriors' final competition before the CCAA Cross Country Championships on Nov. 7 in San Bernardino.
