TURLOCK -- Cal State Stanislaus took two games Saturday from the defending NCAA Division II West Region champion Cal State L.A. in a doubleheader sweep, 7-5 and 10-2, to improve their 2008 home record to 11-2 after losing the series opener Friday.

The win raises the Warriors' record to 13-4 overall and 6-1 in the CCAA. Cal State L.A. falls to 8-10 overall and 3-3 in the CCAA. The Warriors have won eight of their last nine games and are undefeated in home doubleheaders with a 10-0 record.

Patience at the plate combined with timely hitting, as well as solid pitching was the story for the Warriors Saturday. The Golden Eagles gave up 17 walks and hit three other batters to provide Cal State Stanislaus with all the baserunners they needed.

"It was a good day," Warrior head coach Kenny Leonesio said. "The first game was definitely a battle, and then we got a big pitching performance from (Andrew) Stueve."

Senior ace Marquis Fleming picked up his fourth win of the season in game one to move his record to 4-1. Fleming threw 6 1/3 innings and struck out eight. The freshman Stueve went the distance in the nightcap for his first win of the season, improving his record to 1-1. Stueve scattered four hits over seven innings and had just one earned run in the victory.

"(Stueve) is only a freshman and he learns every time he goes out there," Leonesio said. "I thought he had a lot of composure out there."

Jeff Bellotti led the way for the Warriors offensively, going 5 for 7 on the day with two RBIs. Kyle Loretelli went 2-4 with two RBI and two runs scored.

The Warriors jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after two innings in game one, and built that lead to 4-0, but Cal State L.A. rallied in the seventh with two straight hits to start the inning. Center fielder Chris Lloyd hit an RBI double, and Nico Moreno later scored on a wild pitch from Fleming. Lloyd scored on a fielder's choice to cap the inning and make the score 4-3.

The Warriors answered in the bottom half of the seventh when Dennis Wolfe hit a one-out triple and Loretelli singled him in, making the score 5-3. Cal State L.A.'s Max Moya led off the eighth with a double and would later score to close the Warriors' lead to one.

Cal State Stanislaus answered in the bottom of the eighth with two runs to secure the win. Andrew Troncale pitched two innings of relief to close the game and pick up his fourth save of the season.

The Warriors used two big innings in game two to complete the doubleheader sweep. Freshman Dante Palacios hit a two-run triple in the fourth and later scored on a sacrifice fly to cap a four-run inning that gave the Warriors a 6-0 lead.

The Golden Eagles walked four batters in the sixth inning, including Adam Fonville with the bases loaded. Jake Oketani hit an RBI single and Bellotti hit a two-RBI double to finish off another four-run inning for the Warriors that put the score out of reach at 10-2.

The Warriors look to take the four-game series with a win in the series' finale at noon on Sunday at Warrior Field.
