ROHNERT PARK -- In a non-conference match up on a chilly Tuesday afternoon, the Sonoma State Seawolves scattered 16 hits against seven different Stanislaus pitchers to win 11-4.
The Warriors gave many reserve players some playing time after a four-game weekend set against Cal State San Bernardino before dropping to 9-11 overall on the year.
Sonoma State, which even its overall mark to 9-9, scored eight runs in the middle innings to run away with the seven-run win.
Cal State Stanislaus took a 2-1 lead in the third inning on a two-run double by
Michael Johnson to center field. But that was the last lead the Warriors would have.
The Seawolves scored twice in the fourth and five times on six hits in the fifth to pull away.
Chris Anklam got his first start and pitched the first two innings. A total of seven different Warrior pitchers got on the mound with
Tyler Harris being charged with the loss.
Starting shortstop
Kory Vitato also took the mound and tossed 1 1/3 innings with four strikeouts.
Douglas Porras led the Warriors with a 3-for-5 day with a double. He drove in two runs in the seventh with a double to left.
Boomer Donnell and
Nicolas Caraccilo both had two hits for the Warriors.
Nine different Sonoma pitchers struck out 13 batters with Robby White getting the win.
