ROHNERT PARK — Corey Conflenti smacked two home runs in the nightcap, but a high-scoring affair went in favor of the Seawolves as Sonoma State took both CCAA basebal games today from Cal State Stanislaus.

The Warriors were held to three-hits in a pitching duel in the opener before dropping a 3-1 decision. In the nightcap a total of 23 runs were scored in a 16-7 game that went Sonoma State's way.

Cal State Stanislaus, now 17-22, 13-17 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association, will take Saturday off before hosting the season home finale doubleheader on Sunday against the Seawolves (20-22, 13-17 CCAA).

Conflenti was the offensive highlight for the Warriors in game two that featured 23 hits, including a total of eight home runs and six doubles. Conflenti led off the game with a solo shot to left and belted a three-run bomb, again to left, in the eighth.

Unfortunately for Stanislaus, before Conflenti hit his second homer of the game, the Seawolves were already up 14-4. SSU powered-up and hit five home runs in the game including two by first baseman Joey Parigi. Parigi's homers came with a three-run shot in the third and a solo in the fourth. He also had one of SSU's five doubles in the game.

Kory Vitato also homered for the Warriors when he smashed a two-run shot in the seventh to make it 10-4 at the time.

Sonoma State scored a total of eight runs in the sixth-seventh-eighth innings to put the game away.

Conflenti finished 2-for-4 with four RBIs but the Warriors managed just six hits in the game.

In the opener pitchers Kendall Davis and Vinny Pacchetti were locked in a duel until Sonoma scored first with a solo home run by Kyle Jones in the fourth. SSU added two runs on three straight singles in the sixth before the Warriors answered.

David Contreras led off the seventh with a single, stole second and moved to third on a throwing error by the Seawolve catcher. He then scored on a Michael Johnson ground out to make it 3-1.

Davis, however, at one point sat 16 straight Warriors and tallied seven strike outs and gave up just a run on two hits in 6 1/3 innings.

Pacchetti tossed six innings and allowed three runs on five hits for the loss. Conflenti, Contreras and Johnson each had a single for the three Warrior hits.
