LA JOLLA – The Cal State Stanislaus baseball team dropped their fifth straight contest with a 4-2 loss to the #17 UC San Diego Tritons in a California Collegiate Athletic Association contest Friday night.

The Warriors are now 18-14 overall and 12-13 in the CCAA.  The Tritons improve to 25-12 overall and 18-11 in conference play.

Andrew Stueve's record is now 3-2 after pitching all eight innings for the Warriors.  Stueve allowed three earned runs on six hits, walked only two batters and struck out five Tritons.

UCSD took an early lead in the second inning after two hits and a Stanislaus error allowed the Tritons to score two runs.  The Tritons extended their lead to 3-0 in the fourth.

In the fifth the Warriors battled back after Ross Gonsalves led off with a double to left center followed by Colton Beatty's single to right.  The hopes for a big inning was short lived as Zach Cadet lined out to the Triton's second baseman who then doubled off Beatty at first.  Warrior catcher Joe Medeiros kept Cal State Stanislaus alive after hitting a two-run homerun over the right field fence.

San Diego added an insurance run in the eighth which secured the 4-2 win over the Warriors.

Medeiros finished 2-for-4 with one run and two RBi's.  Fred Atkins was strong offensively for the Warriors, batting 3-for-4 on the night.

Cal State Stanislaus will continue their weekend series against the Tritons with a doubleheader on Saturday with a noon start.
