Tyler Murphy completely shut-down the Cal State L.A. offense and the Warriors once again beat-up on the Golden Eagles pitching as Stanislaus State posted a 9-0 win Saturday night.
Murphy threw eight strong innings and gave up just five singles in the win. He struck out four but walked six while improving his personal record to 2-2.
Stanislaus State improved to 15-12 overall and 11-10 in league play and will play for the series win on Sunday. Cal State L.A. is now 15-9, 12-7. The teams will wrap up the series on Sunday with a single game at Noon.
After an hour delay to the start due to afternoon rain, Saturday game saw some strange events including a runner scoring from first on a sac bunt, an outfielder diving into a pool of water, an umpire beamed by a passed ball, and teams leaving the field with two outs.
In the end, the Warriors poured out 11 hits including a double and two homers to dominate Cal State L.A.
Andrew Wheat went 3-for-4 with a solo homer,
Jarrett Veiga drove in three runs and belted a two-run bomb, and three other Warriors each had two hits for a productive night.

Brandon De La Guardia each collected two singles.
Stan State scored twice in the second and single runs in the third and fourth to jump out on top 4-0 after four innings. They finally chased LA starter James Mendez in the seventh after an Oki single to left that made it 5-0. Robbie Stowell then allowed a two-run single to Large to make it 7-0.
Veiga's two-run homer — from the right side of the plate — in the eighth, made it 9-0.
Kevin Hahn struck out the side in the ninth to end the game.
