Warrior Baseball Starts Their 2025 Season with a 14-Game Home Stand

TURLOCK, Calif.---  Stan State will begin its 2025 season with a 14-game home stand starting with four-game series, January 31-February 2 at Warrior Stadium.  The 14-game home stand will end with the Warriors' CCAA four-game series opener versus Cal State San Bernardino, February 21-23).

The Warriors, under the direction of head coach Kenny Leonesio, finished the 2024 season with a 19-27-1 overall record and a 15-21 CCAA record.  They return three All-CCAA honorees in second team selections Austin Balentine and Robert Valdivia along with honorable mention pitcher Caleb Bertoncini

Balentine went 7-2 last season in 14 appearances with two saves.  He posted a 4.31 earned run average while striking out 37 batters and walking just 16 in 54.1 innings of work. Bertoncini was 2-1 on the mount in his 15 appearances with one complete game.  He struck out 35 batters and walked just 16 in 50 innings of work. 

Valdivia hit .315 for his junior season and started all 47 games for the Warriors in 2024.  He had 63 hits of which seven were doubles, two were triples, and two home runs.  The Warrior shortstop drove in 23 runs and scored 33 runs.  He posted a .400 slugging and .350 on-base percentage. 

Including Valdivia and Bertoncini, Stan State has 20 seniors on this year's team that will play a 50-game schedule with ten non-conference games and forty CCAA games. 

The Warriors will begin the season with a four-game home series against Central Washington, January 31-February 2.  The series will begin with a 4:00 p.m. regular season home opener for the Warriors January 31.  The series will continue with a noon starting doubleheader on February 1.  The two teams will conclude the series with a noon starting single game on February 2.  The Wildcats went 21-29 overall and 15-17 in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) in 2024. 

The following, Stan State will entertain another team from the GNAC in Saint Martin's.  The Saints were 17-34 in 2024 with a 10-22 GNAC record.  The Warriors and Saints will play a three-game series beginning with a single game starting at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, February 7.  The series will conclude with a noon starting doubleheader on Saturday, February 8.

Stan State will continue its home stand with a three-game series against the University of Minnesota-Crookston.  The Golden Eagles are from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC).  They went 35-16 last season including 28-10 in conference games.  The three-game series will begin with a 4:00 p.m. single game Friday, February 14.  The series will continue with a 2:00 p.m. single game Saturday, February 15.  The two teams will conclude the series with a 11:00 a.m. starting nine-inning game Sunday, February 16. 

The Warriors will begin CCAA play the weekend of February 21-23, hosting the Coyotes of Cal State San Bernardino.  The series will begin under the lights at 6:00 p.m. Friday, February 21.  The two teams will continue the series with a 1:00 p.m. starting doubleheader Saturday, February 22.  They will conclude the series with a noon starting single game Sunday, February 23.

Stan State will hit the road for the first time with a four-game series in Carson, Calif., Friday-Sunday, February 28-March 2 against Cal State Dominguez Hills.  The series will start with a single game on Friday at 2:00 p.m.  It will continue with a noon starting doubleheader on Saturday. The two teams will conclude the series with a 11:00 a.m. starting nine-inning game on Sunday.

The Warriors will return home the weekend of Friday-Sunday, March 7-9 to host Cal State Los Angeles in a four-game series at Warrior Stadium.  The series will begin on Friday at 6:00 p.m. and continue with a 1:00 p.m. starting doubleheader on Saturday.  The series finale is set for Sunday at noon.

They will return to Southern California for a four-game series Friday-Sunday, March 14-16 at Cal State San Marcos.  Stan State will face the Cougars in the series opener on Friday at 3:00 p.m. The two teams will play a noon starting doubleheader on Saturday.  The Warriors will finish the four-game series with Cal State San Marcos with a 11:00 a.m. starting single game on Sunday.

After a weekend off, Stan State returns home to the friendly confines of Warrior Stadium the weekend of Friday-Sunday, March 28-30 to host San Francisco State. The two teams will begin the series with a 6:00 p.m. on Friday.  They will play a 1:00 p.m. starting doubleheader on Saturday. The series finale will start at noon on Sunday.

Stan State returns to Southern California for the final time of the regular season for a four-game series at Cal Poly Pomona, Friday-Sunday, April 4-6 in Pomona, Calif.  The two teams will begin the series with a 6:00 p.m. on April 4.  The series will continue with a 2:00 p.m. starting doubleheader on April 5.  The teams will conclude the series with a noon starting single game on April 6.

The Warriors will return home, Friday-Sunday, April 11-13 to host Sonoma State.  The series opener will be at 6:00 p.m. on April 11. Games two and three will be a part of a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader on April 12. The series will conclude with a noon starting finale on April 13.

The following weekend, Stan State will be in Hayward, Calif., for a four-game series Thursday-Saturday, April 17-19 against Cal State East Bay.  The two teams will start the series on Thursday with a single game at 3:00 p.m. They will play a noon starting doubleheader on Friday and conclude the series with a noon starting series finale on Saturday.

Stan State will return home the weekend of Friday-Sunday, April 25-27 for the final time of the regular season.  The Warriors will host defending CCAA champion Cal State Monterey Bay.  The two teams will start the series with a 6:00 p.m. single game on April 25.  The series will continue with a 1:00 p.m. starting doubleheader on April 26.  The series finale will start at noon on April 27 with the Senior Day ceremony starting at around 11:30 a.m.

The twenty seniors that will be recognized on Senior Day 2025 are Jacob Baker, Caleb Bertoncini, Jackson Brooks, Noah Chelberg, Luke Davies, Jonluke Goldman, Greyson Gregory, Ryan Leonesio, JD Madrigal, LaKeal Morris, Danny Murphy, Josh Ochoa, Quinn Oliver, Flavio Perez, Reid Rasmussen, Alex Solis, Patrick Sweeney, Robert Valdivia, Tyler Van Dyk, and Cooper Winton.

The Warriors will conclude the 2025 regular season, May 1-3, with a four-game series in Chico, Calif., against Chico State.  The series will begin on Thursday, May 1 at 6:00 p.m. The two teams will play a 1:00 p.m. starting doubleheader on Friday, May 2.  The regular season series finale is set for noon on Saturday, May 3.

The top six teams in the CCAA regular season standings will receive a berth to the 2025 CCAA Baseball Tournament presented by FloCollege, May 7-10, at Reeder Field on the campus of Cal State Los Angeles in Los Angeles, Calif.  The winner of the CCAA Tournament will receive the conference's automatic berth to the NCAA Division II Baseball Championships.

The complete field for the 2025 NCAA Division II Baseball Championship will be announced on www.ncaa.com on May 11. 

The NCAA Division II Baseball Championships will begin with regionals, May 15-18 at sites to be announced.  It will continue with the Super Regionals, May 22-24 at a site to be announced.  The 2025 NCAA Division II National Baseball Championships are set for May 30 to June 7 at the USA National Baseball Training Complex in Cary, North Carolina.
