Coach Bowen led Warrior baseball teams to 639 victories (49 in post season) over 25 seasons.  He produced 21 All-Americans, 27 professional players, and two NCAA post grad scholar athletes.  He was twice voted NCAA National Coach of the Year and eight times Regional Coach of the Year.  At the international level he was an assistant coach on Team USA in 1979, and the head coach in 1980. He has been a clinician in Venezuela, Korea, and Slovakia.  His 1975 Warriors were the first CSUS athletic team selected for post-season (NAIA) play.  His teams won NCAA Championships in 1976 and again in 1977, placed second in 1979, 1982, and 1989, fourth in 1978, 1983, and 1988, and won eight NCAA Regional Titles.  He directed over 20 years of local camps and coaches’ clinics.  Dr. Bowen served nine years as Department Chair, three years as the first Speaker of the Faculty of the College of Education, and also Interim Athletic Administrator and Assistant Athletic Director.  In 1984 Coach Bowen was inducted into his (Thomas Jefferson-Cedar Rapids, Iowa) Hall of Fame, and in 2000 he was inducted into the American Baseball Coaches Association National Hall of Fame.
