Stanislaus State Athletics

Martha Moren was a pioneer in Warrior Athletics, especially for women in sports. She served as coach of two sports, administrator and physical education chairman from 1971 to 1995.

As head coach of the volleyball program, Moren led the Warriors to consecutive NCAA tournament appearances in 1981 and 1982. Stanislaus played in the quarterfinal round of the inaugural NCAA Division III tournament in 1981 and played in the first round of the 1982 tournament. Stanislaus also won a Northern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Division II championship in 1975.

Moren also coached women’s tennis and served as assistant athletics director, helping Stanislaus State’s Title IX compliance and development. She retired from Athletics duties in 1987, but continued to serve as Physical Education & Health department chairman from 1992-1995. Professor Moren retired from teaching in 2007.
