Stanislaus State Athletics

Jim Hanny came to CSUS in 1966.  Through 1999 he coached the golf team to over 2300 victories.  Coach Hanny’s teams have finished in the top 5 nationally, 17 times winning twelve national championships.  His teams have won over 110 tournaments and produced 80 All American Athletes, including 16 1^st team selections, 5 Academic All-American athletes, and 5 National individual Champions.  Coach Hanny has been recognized often for his many accomplishments with the Golf Coaches Association of America.  He was selected Conference Coach of the Year eight times, NCAA Division II and III District Coach of the Year 19 times, NCAA Division III National Coach of the Year 9 times, and was inducted into the GCAA Hall of Fame in 1992, his first year of eligibility.  Coach Hanny has coached 5 sports at CSUS; Baseball, Track and Field, Cross Country, Basketball, and Golf.  He was a U.S.A. Track and Field Master Official for over 40 years, was Chair of the Department of Physical Education and Health from 1976-85, and director of Athletics from 1982-89.
