Stanislaus State Athletics

The hard-hitting first baseman was selected in 1985 as a Silver Anniversary Top Five Athlete, commemorating athletic excellence in the first twenty five years of CSUS Sports history.  In 1981 Gary was selected first team All American for NCAA Division III.  In 1980 Gary was a key member of the conference champion Warriors.  Also in 1980 he was selected as a participant for Team USA vs. Korea in Seoul, South Korea.  At the time of his induction Gary ranked 1^st all time in Warrior history in runs scored with (108), 1^st in runs batted in with (87), 2^nd in hits with (132), 2^nd in home runs with (19), 2^nd in total bases with (229), 4^th in triples with (11), 5^th in slugging percentage at (.529), and 5^th in at bats with (433).  Following his collegiate career Gary played several years with the Minnesota Twins and participated as a long time national caliber softball player.
