Greg was a two-year starting catcher for the Warriors and led his team to the Division III NCAA World Series both years.  In 1988, Greg was a member of the NCAC conference championship team, earned all conference honors, and was honored as NCAC Baseball player of the Year.  In the same year, he was selected the team's Most Valuable Player and team captain.  He completed the 1988 campaign by being selected an NCAA Division III All American.  In his senior year, Greg had another outstanding season once again being selected All Conference, team MVP, team captain, NCAA All American, California State University Stanislaus Athlete of the Year, and added the honor of Conference Academic Athlete of the year.  During his two years as a Warrior Greg complied a .330 batting average, .513 slugging percentage, played in 86 games with 112 hits, 17 doubles, 15 homeruns, and 98 runs batted in.
